‘Birthing New Paradigms’ is a potent excavation into the more-than-human kin that shape us and the wealth of knowledge they provide when we listen. This series consists of seven paintings highlighting diverse topics: Invasive species, Poison species, Endangered species, Fungi, Entheogens, Emmenagogues & Womb nourishing plants.

Each of these paintings feature a collection of kindred species that are bound together by shared physical and energetic properties. By artistically highlighting the complexity and nuance present within each ecological constellation, these images expand our capacity for empathy, curiosity, and appreciation of the diverse ecosystem we inhabit.

The species depicted within each painting coalesce into the shape of a uterus to symbolize the place from which life comes forth. This through-line of the series emphasizes the origin of life and the innate capacity of creation that lies within the womb and this humming, living planet we inhabit. By viewing these species within the context of creative emergence, we may understand the messages they carry as a unique lens to shape the way we view and interact with the world.

These images will be visual spawning points for conversation to arise. Each painting will have a panel of 3 passionate thinkers specialized in that field discussing both the philosophical and tangible teachings from their time spent in the field. These conversations will widen our perceptions to the world around us and invite participants to view these beings with nuanced and curious perspectives.
